“This has been a really busy week coming over after homecoming–it always is. Students have had to crank it back up academically, which is appropriate,” said Upper School Division Head Butch Keller. “We’re really looking forward to the holiday season.”

Homecoming events encompassed the week of November 7-11. Monday was the dress-up and decoration day for Freshmen, Tuesday for Sophomores, Wednesday for Juniors, and Friday for Seniors. Spirit events took place every day excluding Wednesday and Thursday, during which the Homecoming parade and rally occurred, respectively. The varsity and junior varsity football games will take place on the evening of November 11.

On Thursday, November 10, the upper school community convened on Davis Field for the Homecoming Rally, held one day earlier than expected due to rain forecasts.

This week’s events included preparation for Homecoming, a golf update, and Head of School Christopher Nikoloff’s lecture series.

This week’s events included a visit from Abbot Jian-Hu Shi, the fall play You Can’t Take It With You, and celebration of Halloween spirit.

“Any time we have a major performing arts production, it’s a highlight. I’m looking forward to seeing the play tonight. I’ve heard great things about it- I’ve heard it is hilarious,” said Upper School Division Head Butch Keller.

Valentine’s Day is normally filled with love and happiness, however not one in 2005. That day my mother received the news that would forever change her life.

Upper School Division Head Butch Keller and Upper School math teacher Jane Keller traveled to Washington D.C. for an alumni visit from October 12 to October 16.

Major student events this week included the Global Empowerment Outreach (GEO) club week, senior nights for sports, and an east coast alumni update.

“When you talk about senior nights for athletics, the bonds between teammates and coaches illustrates how close and how meaningful an extra-curricular can be. That, to me, in the community is a very important thing.” said Upper School Division Head Butch Keller.

The week’s events comprised of the annual school picnic, the sophomore Eagle Buddies visit, and the freshmen service trip.

On Tuesday October 11, over 100 third graders greeted the sophomore class with cheers and smiles when they arrived at the lower school campus to meet their Eagle Buddies for the first time.
